The QDAcity Team
The three founders of QDAcity are Andreas Kaufmann, Julian Lehrhuber and Dirk Riehle. Andreas is leading the company as CEO and has plenty of experience in qualitative research methods. His dissertation was on the topic of using qualitative research methods in software requirements engineering, and even before this worked on natural language processing for QDA. Julian leads our software development as CTO and has been with the project since 2020, back then as a student worker. Dirk is a member of the board and besides enabling the spin-off of our startup serves the company with a whealth of experience in research and teaching. He's been teaching QDA methods to students since 2012.

The QDAcity Startup at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg
QDAcity emerged from a research project within the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg at the professorship for open source software which started in 2014. We spun off as a separate company 10 years later in 2024 and continued developing it into the product that it is today.
We want to help students and researchers stay on top of their data analysis and make it easier for them to collaborate on their research project.

The list of collaborators and contributors is long. We are proud to have worked with so many student projects over the years from FAU, TUBand FHOÖ. QDAcity has both been used for teaching QDA method competence, and our team has been involved in teaching good software development practices and user experience design.
